Sukhy D’Cruz, Founder and Clinical Director of SonoComp Institute

FOUNDER

Bridging the gap between registration and clinical confidence.

A graduate of McMaster University's Medical Radiation Sciences program, Sukhy has worked in diagnostic medical sonography since 2008 and currently works in clinical ultrasound leadership. Her experience spans clinical practice, technologist training, mentorship, competency development and supporting sonographers as they transition into independent practice.

Through years of hiring, training and supporting sonographers, she recognized a recurring gap: some registered sonographers enter clinical practice without enough real-world exposure to feel confident navigating complex or technically challenging examinations. They may understand examination protocols and know which images to obtain, yet still feel uncertain when faced with pathology, unexpected findings or cases that don't follow a textbook presentation.

This experience inspired the creation of SonoComp Institute — a hands-on training environment designed to help registered sonographers strengthen practical skills, clinical judgement and confidence as they move from registered to ready.

What Sonographers Say About Sukhy’s Mentorship

Throughout her clinical leadership career, Sukhy has supported sonographers through hands-on training, individualized feedback and professional mentorship.

"I am incredibly grateful for Sukhy’s kindness and patience throughout my training experience. She provided hands-on guidance that helped me improve my probe positioning, image optimization and overall image quality. Her detailed feedback after every scan allowed me to recognize my mistakes, make improvements and gradually develop the confidence to scan independently.

I have never experienced such detailed and organized training in my sonography career. Sukhy gave me the time, encouragement and support I needed to become comfortable scanning on my own. I thoroughly enjoyed learning under her mentorship and truly value the impact her guidance has had on my future as a sonographer.”

“I had the privilege of training with Sukhy in ultrasound, and I can confidently say that she is one of the most genuine, knowledgeable and dedicated mentors I have ever learned from. Over the years, I have attended several training programs and worked with different coaches and centres, but my experience with Sukhy truly stands out.

She explains ultrasound protocols clearly and systematically, ensuring that you understand not only how to perform each scan, but why every step is important. Her patience, attention to detail and commitment to proper technique significantly improved both my confidence and my scanning skills.

Sukhy creates a supportive learning environment where you never feel hesitant to ask questions or practise again. I am truly grateful for everything I learned from her and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking high-quality, professional ultrasound training.”

OUR PURPOSE

Not just credentialed.
Competent. Confident. Clinically ready.

SonoComp Institute was created to empower registered sonographers to enter the workforce with more than credentials. Our goal is to help them develop the practical skills, clinical judgement and confidence to navigate the realities of everyday practice — from technically challenging examinations and unexpected pathology to the patient-care moments that require communication, adaptability and compassion.

Through meaningful clinical exposure, hands-on practice and supportive mentorship, we aim to develop sonographers who can recognize, adapt, think critically and provide exceptional patient care — approaching each examination with greater confidence and independence.

THE SONOCOMP DIFFERENCE

Training designed for the realities of clinical practice.

Clinical competence goes beyond knowing which images to obtain. It means understanding what you’re seeing, recognizing when something isn’t normal, adapting when an examination becomes challenging, and knowing how to respond when findings aren’t textbook — all while providing thoughtful, patient-centred care.

SEE BEYOND THE PROTOCOL

Recognize pathology and unexpected findings, and know when an examination requires further assessment.

THINK THROUGH THE EXAM

Adapt, problem-solve and make thoughtful decisions as findings unfold.

CARE FOR THE PATIENT

Balance technical excellence with thoughtful communication, compassion, and professionalism.
